#1%INFO: TRAVEL DIARY OF BURGUNDY & LOIRE

Quentin Chaperon, Director of Sourcing, and Thomas Hébrard, CEO & Founder, visited Sancerre and Pouilly for the first time last week and ended their trip by Burgundy in order to expand our selection of 1%. They came back with nice memories of tastings in mind, nice allocations and made new and exciting encounters. Here’s a look at their tour …

Head for the Loire Valley!

2 strengthened partnerships

  • Domaine Alphonse Mellot: A true reference of Sancerre in white and red with its own style.
  • Domaine Dagueneau: Benjamin created a first name for himself, he assumes his style and makes wines at least as great as his father. A surprise to come with a vintage of anthology … To be watched closely!

2 new meetings

  • Domaine Vacheron: What a slap … The wines are incredible and the places will also be as soon as the construction are finished. The 1996 in red is in our top 5 wines of the year!
  • Domaine Henri Bourgeois: A reference in Sancerre for the seriousness of the family and the quality of the wines. We also had the chance to taste their New Zealand wines!

Head to Burgundy for the end of the week!

2 strengthened partnerships

  • Domaines Olivier Leflaive : Reliable in all areas! We were able to taste Valentin Leflaive’s champagnes!
  • Domaine Albert Grivault : We had a great tasting with the family on the 2017 to 2020 vintages. What a terroir!

new meetings

  • Domaine Jean Chartron in Puligny-Montrachet: What a plot! Clos des Pucelles, Clos des Caillerets, Chevalier-Montrachet…. The wines are of great tension and great balance!
  • Domaine Lamarche in Vosne-Romanée: They have the Grande Rue as a monopoly.
  • Domaine Anne Gros in Vosne-Romanée: We tasted his Minervois wines. A nice fruit and very nice balance!
  • Domaine Pierre-Vincent Girardin in Meursault: He recreated an estate from scratch with his father and it’s awesome. Pure talent!
  • Domaine Jean-Marc et Thomas Bouley in Volnay: A real discovery, what precision in the wines…. They reflect their terroir in the most beautiful and clear way.
  • Domaine Guy Amiot: One of the reference of Chassagne-Montrachet! Nice wines that age wonderfully.
