families only have been owning this prestigious property in Saint-Emilion, the Lescours family, from the XIIIth to the XVIth centuries; Jacques de Lescure and his heirs in the XVIIth century; the Chatonnet-Cantenat, from the late XVIIth century to the late XIXth century and since, the Dubois-Challon-Vauthier from the same lineage as the Chantonnet-Cantenat. The Château was fully acquired in 1996 by the Vauthier family after a family dispute which opposed them to the Dubois-Chalon then owners of the Château. Château Ausone is now led by Alain Vauthier who has completely restructured the vineyard and consolidated certain buildings, built on underground galleries that were threatening to collapse. Since July 2005, his daughter Pauline Vauthier walks in the footsteps of her father and ensures the technical management of Ausone as well as of the various properties of the family. Since 2010, the estate is entirely conducted according to the principles of Biodynamics (although not officially certified) and treated with natural products.
