The Bordeaux Primeurs : Médoc.

The Bordeaux Primeurs week started today, April the 5th and will last until Thursday the 7th. During three days, wine merchants will taste the 2015 vintage. They will get a first opportunity to determine its future potential. U’Wine invites you to discover what happens behind the curtain of the Bordeaux Primeurs week.

The Bordeaux Primeurs week is organised by our partner l’Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux (UGCB). The tasting of the wines of a same geographical appellation is grouped in one of the Châteaux of the said appellation. For instance, this year, all the Saint-Julien wines tastings were hosted by Château Gruaud Larose.

The Bordeaux Primeurs : Saint-Julien

Its under a fine Medoc sun that took place the Bordeaux Primeurs St Julien’s wines tasting. In the wonderful atmosphere of Château Gruaud-Larose, perfect combination of ancient and modern architecture. Amongst others, we got the opportunity to taste Châteaux Gruaud-Larose. Beychevelle, Talbot and Léoville-Poyferré.

Château de Tertre : Margaux.

Château du Tertre had put on a big spread to welcome the Bordeaux Primeurs 2015. Small electric cars kindly took visitors who did not feel like walking from the parking lot up to the Châteaux. There, a shoeshine service was available to give some shine back to the visitors’ shoes that had been spoiled by the parking lot mud. Then, ” the oxen of Giscours ” welcomed the wine tasters in the yard of the Château. We can also mention a very original fresco that decorated the back end of the cellar where all tastings took place.

Saint-Estèphe : Chateau Lafon Rochet

It is a partner of U’ Wine, Château Lafon-Rochet that hosted this year the tastings of the Saint-Estèphe and Pauillac Grands Crus. The golden front-end of the Château shone brilliantly under the Médoc sun beams. The tasting gave us an opportunity to enjoy among others wines from Château Phélan Segur, Lynch Bages, Cos Labory, Pichon Longueville Baron and Comtesse or Ormes de Pez.

Our experts tasted with a lot of interest the Bordeaux Primeurs 2015 and we will shortly come back to you with a detailed article on their findings and first impressions.
