Like every year, Château Dassault received on February 8 its brokers and negociants for its annual truffle lunch.
Usually, each participant was invited to find the blend by testing different combinations of the domain’s pages: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The one who was the closest from the assembly won a truffle.
Unfortunately, this year was not very lucky one for Château Dassault. The vineyard has lost all its grapes due to the episode of the frost of April 2017, preventing fom producing the 2017 vintage. Alternatively, a vertical tasting of the 2011 to 2014 vintages has been offered, in order to better known the Château La Fleur and the Château Lafaurie de Souchard, properties of Dassault Wine Estate.
During the lunch, the Dassault family also announced the expansion project of Château La Fleur from 6 ha to 23 ha. The small vineyard is growing up! Dassault Wine Estates claims three distinct brands, each possessing their typicality and their strengths.
The truffle for all tastes
Invited at the head table with Mr Laurent Dassault, U’Wine was able to taste with pleasure a whole menu based on truffle, culminating in an original truffle ice cream.
We would like to thank the Dassault family, Laurence Brun, Vice President of Dassault Wine Estate, and Romain Depons, General Manager of Vignobles Dassault, for their welcome and wonderful lunch.
