Château Jean Faure
At the end of the XVIIIth century, Jean Faure was part of one single 42 ha property that also include Château La Dominique, Ripeau and Corbin. In the XIXthe century, the Penaud family acquired the Château and 17 ha of vines that virtually represent the actual domain – the identity of Jean Faure was born at that time.
In 1921, Marcel Loubat bought Jean Faure and thanks to his hard work gave back to the Château its status of “Premier Cru de graves Saint Emilion.”
Unfortunately the Château will go through difficult moments that will lead in 1985 to exclusion of the historical classification of the wines of Saint Emilion. Fortunately, in 2004, thanks to the energy and dynamism of its owner Olivier Decelle, Jean Faure reinstates its rank in the Saint Emilion Classification.
