Château La Gaffelière
The vineyard is located between the hills of Ausone and Pavie, on a south-facing hillside, on clay-limestone soil. The vines grown on the land of the Château la Gaffelière have been present since the Gallo-Roman period. The Malet Roquefort family is the oldest Saint-Émilion family, having been at the head of the property since 1611.
Premier Grand Cru Classé B, the Château La Gaffelière has passed down its savoir-faire throughout the generations. Replanting work was carried out in 2000 to allow for better use of the soils and optimal ageing of each stock, and where the Merlot grows wonderfully. The combination of this perfectly-located terroir and ancestral techniques allows the Château La Gaffelière to produce a widely recognised and appreciated Grand Cru.
